High Table Dinners are held in the Refectory and involve the whole College Community. They are our most formal of meals, and usually take place once a month. Masters’ Dinners are for approximately 50 students and will take place for a special purpose, for example to welcome groups of visitors, celebrate a particular event, or to host a special speaker.
At High Table Dinner, tie and jacket should be worn by men and appropriate formal attire for women. The academic gown is to be worn at all formal meals. This has been a feature of residential colleges for more than 400 years. So wear it with pride. Please do not remove your gown during the meal. Academic gowns are a mark of unity in the College and respect for the College.
